How to get an alert when a game goes on sale

Short answer: Add the free PriceRook bot to Discord and type /watch followed by the game name and your target price (for example /watch Hades 20). It DMs you when the Steam price hits your target. Steam's own wishlist also emails you for seasonal-sale discounts of 20% or more.

Option 1: PriceRook on Discord (target price)

  1. Add PriceRook to a Discord server.
  2. Type /watch Hades 20. Leave the price off to be alerted on any drop.
  3. Make sure DMs from server members are on. Use /list and /stop to manage up to 10 watches.

Prices are checked every few hours from the Steam store, in USD.

Option 2: Steam wishlist

Valve emails wishlisters when a game joins a seasonal sale at 20% off or more [1]. You can't set a target price, though.
